Oggi abbiamo effettuato il rilevamento lichenico per valutare la qualità dell'aria nella zona del pianoro del Colle San Marco. I licheni sono ottimi indicatori biologici in quanto:

- Hanno lento accrescimento e grande longevità, fattori che consentono di seguire l'evolversi dell'inquinamento
- are bio-accumulators of air pollutants are
- euritermici and euridrici (tolerate a wide range of temperature and water conditions)

Il 3 ottobre 1943 , con una manovra di accerchiamento, i tedeschi attaccarono il Colle San Marco dove erano rifugiati i partigiani. La Resistenza si protrasse per alcune ore con una breve interruzione causata da un violento terremoto. Al termine della battaglia si contarono molti morti e feriti tra i partigiani; i sopravvissuti furono imprigionati al Forte Malatesta e successivamente deportati in Germania.

La volta dell'eremo è completamente ricoperta da un tappeto di Capelvenere (Adiantum capillus veneris). Il Capelvenere appartiene al gruppo delle Pteridofite (Felci), piante che si riproducono tramite spore prodotte all'interno di sporangi, sulla pagina inferiore delle fronde (Gli sporangi del capelvenere hanno una caratteristica forma rettangolare e sono di colore marrone, ben visibili nella foto).
Il nome Capelvenere deriva dal fatto che le fronde sono leggere e delicate ed inserite su un sottile stelo nero e lucente come i capelli di Venere.

In seguito andò ad insegnare teologia alla Sorbona di Parigi. Nel 1288 fu convocato a Roma per ricevere la porpora cardinalizia; pertanto partì da Parigi, come sempre a piedi nudi e dopo tre mesi, ormai stanco e logoro, arrivò ad Ascoli; Corrado,malfermo di salute, trovò rifugio nella famosa grotta nella quale la morte lo raggiunse ben presto.

Il colle San Marco è un imponente limestone plateau, composed mainly of travertine, which rises majestically to the south of the city of Ascoli Piceno. Come preannunciato abbiamo aderito all'iniziativa "ACQUA DI RUBINETTO? SI' GRAZIE" e, sebbene sia domenica, abbiamo voluto contribuire intervistando i passanti riguardo le abitudini relative al consumo dell'acqua potabile. Non tutti sono stati disposti a rispondere, ma noi abbiamo ugualmente cercato di far capire come sia migliore l'acqua del rubinetto per human health and especially for the health of the environment. 
VOLUNTEERS TO WORK IN THE SQUARE Arringo
