GRUPPO: "BAUSTELLE" - ALBUM: "I MISTICI DELL'OCCIDENTE" (2010)
heard the first album Baustelle, "explained Subsidiary of youth", everyone could see potential in this group undisputable, but nobody would have bet on a fifth album is so developed as that of "The Monks of the West."
The year 2010 was indeed the year of its release, and also represented an important crossroads for the future of the band of Montepulciano after the masterpiece of "Amen" (2008) - which, with its perfection was able to win the prize Tenco - the next job had to be able to give continuity to a path to follow now artistically important and critical.
"The Monks of the West" does not disappoint and requires the listener the desire to be deciphered in the depths of its essence. It follows immediately
the side of the valuable content: the title derives from the book of the same name of item Zolla, Italian philosopher and essayist, a scholar of Eastern and Western mysticism and the production is designed by Pat McCarthy (something far away from their first jobs ).
The process of the twelve tracks will allow us to understand the scope of content of this "opera quinta.
"Indigo" opens fire, invading the atmosphere around the listener to darker images: from solitude to the passage of a hearse, mysticism and religion are directly related to the track "St. Francis" splendid metaphor of the saint surrounded by "pig" of contemporary society that takes the strongest and most current music chrome with "The Monks of the West" closing track of the triptych application, yelling to the men to be saved "disregarding the reality."
The fourth and fifth song on the album seem to leave in a positive atmosphere above the gloomy music with different energy, lightness decidedly "pop" of "The Frogs", and "Unforgiven" are really just the understatement of this bloody society, where "the swimming pool of a farm covered the frogs" and where you can only empty the description of the third millennium of human relationships consist of utilitarianism and objectives that characterize the mass of "Unforgiven."
It 'clear that the "cuttlebone" of the song "Follonica" show imagery of a devastated pioneered reality described in the beautiful verses of Eugenio Montale, not surprisingly mentioned, so sharp and telling today's society easily comparable to that of a song marred by beach where you can plead to the person beside us is to "make it a little sex, do it anyway, to remind us to be alive ...". In the West
negative but something should be done, and then room for a revolution to change the inner sole means of individual conditions: "The song of the revolution" is l'inno di chi crede ancora nella possibilità di una vita differente dalla triste omologazione attuale.
All topics are damn greasy cold blood of the third millennium will be the appearance and marketability to kill "The Doll" stereotype of the teenager of today's times: Rachel sings beautifully of a "doll", whose "face is ready for use "and" everyone is responsible for "continuing to apostrophize telling that" the same as before the doll is exposed in the window, it bends and bows, have the time power is watching your ass is fat feels so "until Bianconi will try to beg to save it in a way very sad, "father of the new villages, kill lives, God give her a summer flower that is liberated from the dreams and false needs not buy bait does not grow is not true ..."
hectic time of the previous three songs is interrupted, and a new dimension is opened by the poetry of "The undersigned" accompanied by a precious piano arpeggio of the tenth track is a declaration of love and hatred of all reality that marks the 'spirit of those who daily faces.
The final two pieces are the signature of this painting:
the eleventh track for me is the masterpiece of this CD where the accompaniment of guitars creates a very Indie Rock, where the Italian text sculpts and defines in clear what surrounds us, so obvious in fact, to be quoted directly without leaving room for comments emblematic part of the text: "Children want to drink orange drink because so bitter is reality and I have not too old to be able to deceive myself "to live in a different way.
If you will be clothed yourselves in the album and I will actually be lost in this cruel but damn true description of our world you will cry with not much difficulty with the closing of "The Last Happy Night of the World", "to Remember to be yourself, to be alone forever. "
"I Monks of the West "is the shipwreck of infertility in modern society that leaves no room for better prospects: the raw and naked truth.
